Hoo Owns the Candidates? 2024
Consolidated and sorted donor lists for every Indiana gubernatorial hopeful
A major part of the HoosLeft project is following the money in Indiana politics. Last year, we only scratched the surface, beginning to look at the big donors fueling the governor’s race. That will continue throughout this year, as I dig into the Hoosier oligarchs buying influence with all of the major candidates. As a public service, I am making this data viewable to anybody who wants it. Information is current through the end of 2023 and, as of publishing, is more up-to-date than Open Secrets. The real value will come as I add profiles for the big donors.
The following spreadsheets consolidate information for the 2024 election cycle from gubernatorial candidates’ official semiannual and annual filings with the Indiana Secretary of State’s office. Candidates that declared earlier, like Eric Doden, have filed multiple reports, whereas late entrant Curtis Hill has filed just one. Contributions are totaled for each unique donor and then sorted from highest to lowest. Within each candidate’s file, individuals, businesses, and PACs have their own tab. These will be updated quarterly.
